Machine learning, in plain terms
Machine learning is training a computer to perform tasks using a neural network instead of traditional algorithms.
With the right hardware and software, computers can use neural networks to tackle more challenging tasks. This means employees can become more efficient at their jobs and improve workflows.
These neural networks are implemented as “models” which specialize in certain tasks. This is referred to as artificial intelligence, or “AI.”
A realistic view
Promising, and still new
While artificial intelligence is very promising, it is still a new technology and has a lot of gaps in what it can do effectively.
Like all other technologies which came before it, it requires a lot of fine-tuning to be useful and reliable. While online chat bots are very good at putting together sentences, they often fall short of doing thorough research on any given topic.
